Last night was the night, off to the Hilton Hotel to the awards ceremony.
We met Petra (who kindly nominated Angel) at 7pm and were on time for the drinks reception.
Angel bumped into Sue from Brian House Hospice, who was also nominated for a hero award.
The ceremony started shorty after 7:30pm, so we quickly found the function room and our table (15 – Bevs Birthday!)
We enjoyed a 3 course meal and even more so – COLLABRO from Britains Got Talent!
They were absolutely fantastic and everyone had goosebumps!
There was then a presentation of awards, for contributions to sport; heart of gold; contributions to charity; bravest youngest; lifetime achievement and various others. All which went to very deserving winners.
Before the awards were half way through we had already had a little cry!
During the second half of the evening – Angels nomination video was played. I did *start* recording this but I was quickly in years!
They showed a video of Petra speaking of Angel and her tumour, and then Angel speaking about proton beam therapy and of some of the things we did in America!
When it was announced that she had won – local hero – Angel and I made our way to the stage.
There would have been pics of us on the stage… Except there was a standing ovation for us so you couldn’t really see anything!
Angel was presented with a Glass award plaque with her name on (photo to follow) and a bag of goodies.
During the evening she also met Brian Rose (the current WBO Intercontinental and British Champion) so you can imagine how excited she was about that!!!
Managed to get a few pics and a selfie!
Big thanks to everyone who was watching us from home!!!!
So so proud of Angel. She could not be more deserving of the award! Both Angel and her Mum are incredibly brave and have been through so much and kept strong and positive throughout.
Absolutely honoured to have been the one to accompany them to America.
